They need to bring back the Duster name and all of it's trim levels (yes I know Plymouth is dead), like a not porky Challenger. RWD with a turbo or n/a 4 on some light architecture, a retro body and some sweet appearance packages for all. Maybe an option for an SRT6 or 8. WTF are you doing with the Dart anyhow?
I actually like the Dart ok and apologize to those who own them, but Dodge is perfectly positioned to make this work. I know it isnt a 4 door, so maybe keep the dart around for a bit

No Plymouth, No Duster.

The new Dart isn't a real Dart.
The new Charger isn't a real Charger.
Like, call the Dart something else. It's based off a Fiat for Gods sake.
The Charger has the incorrect number of doors. It's not a real Charger.

Wrong. Coronet first.

2 door coupe to compete with the BRZ. Have the tigershark, and the basic 4 pot, then throw in the 3.6 for those that are power hungry.

yeah, Dodge Demon would work, but I always liked the duster name more

Duster Hellcat

Come on, you know that's the same thing as a Charger.

I couldn't agree more. The Challenger is great but at 4400 or so pounds it's a pig. Seriously I can't even figure out how a 2 door car can weight that much. Dodge could easily make an frs/brz or genesis competitor / destroyer.

Dacia Duster?

If it suddenly turns into a real Dodge Dart.

If you're going to replace the 5.6 (340) and 5.9 (360) with a 4-banger, why call it a Duster? It'll end up as another FWD platform anyway, so just call it the Neon LOL-4.
![]() 04/08/2015 at 22:08 |

oh I wouldnt be replacing those, just the slant 6, unless of course they want to bring back an inline 6 for the people

I'm thinking this should be a two-door version of the next-gen Dart.
Rumors were going around that the next-gen Dart is supposed to share its platform with the BMW 3er rival from Alfa, which means that it would be rear-drive...
On a related note, I've always fucking loved the matte black roof and hood, and the offset hood graphics on the Duster 340. I'm surprised that FCA hasn't reused that idea on the Challenger.

Dodge needs something fun that isn't gigantic. Problem is, they don't have anything between the wheezy 4-bangers and the V8s...no FI 6s to put in 3100-3300 pound cars. They need a new SRT-6. Preferably AWD + stick.
![]() 04/09/2015 at 07:41 |

yeah, hopefully they are saving it. It has to have been discussed at some point

The Chrysler 200 kinda fills that role with the 3.6L V-6 engine. It does not have a manual option though.
My second point: those "wheezy 4-bangers" start in that weight range. I want sports cars that are powerful, light, and cheap as much as anyone. But all those things are mutually exclusive, you cannot have it all, everything is a compromise.

The 3.6 is a low-revving 275-295hp snoozefest and the 200 is FWD and possibly the most boring car outside of Toyota's lineup. You can put RWD/AWD in a 4/5 door in the 3200-3400 pound range, and there's no reason they should be stuck with 4 cylinders up to the 3800 pound mark.
Chrysler has nothing remotely fun until you get up to the 4000 pound Hemis. A revival of the SRT-6 would slot nicely between the tin cans and land yachts.

The 200 does have an AWD option with the 3.6L. Second, when did a hair shy of 300 HP become boring. Just twenty years ago that kind of power was hard to get out of anything below a 305.
Yes, powerful and lightweight is possible, but it is also expensive. What you are looking for is something like the Crossfire or Prowler, which both died because no-one wanted that. I think you should pay attention to what Alfa Romeo is planning. That might be more to your liking.

2xx horsepower became boring somewhere between a decade ago when Subaru gave you 300 from an old turbo 4 (not even direct injected), and the time since when every car put on 300+ pounds and jumped at least a size.
Nissan gave us 300 hp at 3300 pounds in 1990. My NA at 3200ish doesn't feel light, and at ~250 hp doesn't feel fast. If an extra 50 hp costs me several hundred pounds, it's not much of a gain. I start to get interested around the 10 pound per horsepower mark, and just want something not-huge.
